Moto Restaurant strongly supports Mountain Lumber Co!

Moto Restaurant strongly supports Mountain Lumber Co!

After working with Mountain Lumber Company, Chef Homaro Cantu and Pastry Chef Ben Roche made a video about their experience working with our products and us. See their video here.

Here is what they had to say about us:

“For the best reclaimed wood products, Mountain Lumber Company is the best in the business. Moto Restaurant Chef Homaro Cantu and Pastry Chef Ben Roche only support sustainable initiatives and Mountain Lumber is at the top of their list with wood treatments and decor.

With the keen eye of Slick Design's Rocco Laudizio, Moto Restaurant's main dining room has been transformed into a sophisticated yet futuristic example of what true sustainability is.”

If you have used our products, please share your experiences. We love hearing feedback!

Glue Down Installation

Mountain Lumber Company had the pleasure of working with Howard Brickman of Brickman Consulting on a recent glue-down installation of our engineered distressed oak. Howard is a leading expert in the flooring industry and was kind enough to travel from his home state of Massachusetts to share with us his knowledge of concrete applications.

Day One: We began by dropping water on the concrete to determine if the concrete had been treated with a sealer. If the water beaded, we would know there was a sealer that needed to be removed. If the water did not bead, we would move on to the installation.

As you can see from the photos, the water beaded so we spent day one preparing the concrete by grinding the sealer away and installing a state of the art moisture barrier. After allowing the floor to dry for 24 hours we will move on to the actual installation.

The entire process will take about four days. Check back for more updates and photos as this project continues.

Charlottesville Flooring Studio

Check out Mountain Lumber's newest showroom located in Charlottesville, Virginia. To mark the occasion, we joined together with clients, friends and family to celebrate thirty-five years of reclaimed wood and the spaces we’ve helped create.

The newly-christened Studio seeks to bring together area professionals and their clients by offering a creative and inviting atmosphere in which to learn about environmentally friendly flooring. Designed by Peter Fraser of Fraser Design Associates in Richmond, Virginia, the Studio’s elegant, modern interior showcases Mountain Lumber’s wood in both traditional and nontraditional applications. The studio's floor was done in a Chevron pattern using narrow Granary Oak boards. The most discussed feature however, is the studio's back wall which consists of a thin heart pine veneer mounted to back-lit molded plastic -- creating a golden lantern that illuminates the studio.

The Studio is located in Charlottesville’s “green living” epicenter -- the Main Street Market. The Market is a collection of ten locally owned and operated retailers that specialize in providing locally grown and environmentally friendly products for the home. This attractive location puts Mountain Lumber face to face with Charlottesville’s dedicated green consumers.

The Mountain Lumber Studio is located at 410 West Main Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902.
